For Your Consideration: Serbia’s Award-Winning Language Feature 'Offenders' Screens In Los Angeles

While 2018 may be coming to an end, award season in the entertainment industry will quickly be upon us and every year, the Oscars are met with huge anticipation and excitement. Kevin Hart has already been slated to host the 91st Academy Awards being held on Sunday, Feb 24th 2019 and now in the last month of the year, Academy members are making sure to watch every screening and film that is up for consideration to win the coveted and timeless Oscar award. This week, to a room filled with academy members, actors, reporters, critics and art lovers, Serbia’s OFFENDERS (Izgrednici) was shown hoping to be a nominee for the Best Foreign Language Feature. 

The film has already been talked about among international film critics but thanks to a screening held in Los Angeles, celebrities and now academy voting members are talking about the stimulating art film. Submitted for the Best Foreign Language Film Feature against 86 other films, the thriller is centered on a small group of sociology students, led by their university professor, conducting separate experiments around the city to prove the "Tetris" effect and its theory of chaos. OFFENDERS comes as prominent Serbian director Dejan Zecevic's ninth feature film and stars Radovan Vujovi?, Mladen Sovilj, Marta Bjelica and Svetozar Cvetkovic to name a few. It is produced by the production company Biberche represented by Nikolina V. Zecevic. 

On Monday December 4th, OFFENDERS was screened at the Landmark Theatre in Los Angeles alongside other Foreign Film Screening welcoming attendees with an open wine bar and red carpet prior to the film’s screening. Celebrities in attendance included Evan Williams (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”), Cierra Foster (“Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe”), Savannah Kennick (BLOOM, “Arrested Development”), Yi Zhou (CRAZY RICH ASIANS), actor and host Benjamin Schnau, Antonio Lujak (ROBIN HOOD), Milos Nadazdin (international photographer), Simmona (Recording Artist) and of course the film’s director and producer: Dejan and Nikolina Zecevic respectively among others. 

About the Director Dejan Zecevic

Dejan has held the record of being the youngest Serbian director successfully directing six features, several short films, a segment in a composite film, a television film and several TV series. His films have received more than 100 prizes and the FIPRESCI Award for Best director in four different years. The film’s cast members also include Boris Isakovi? and Miodrag Dragi?evi?, and has currently received 11 different awards: four from the FEST International Film Festival including the FEDEORA Jury Award.
