First ever state-ranking bowling tournament held successfully in Hyderabad

● Lalit Kumar and Shruti won the first prize in their respective categories

● The tournament was conducted at Inorbit mall for the youth to associate with the sport

● Actor Sumanth Ashwin was the chief guest for the finals

Hyderabad, 23rd August, 2019: Tenpin Bowling Association (Telangana), a newly formed body to promote the spirit of bowling in the state of Telangana organized the first ever state-ranking tournament in collaboration with Tenpin Bowling Federation (India). The tournament took place in Hyderabad from 19th to 22nd Aug. The rules of the game were in line with the international standards of bowling. About 70 to 100 registrations were received to participate in the tournament.

“We are delighted that we organized the first ever tenpin tournament for both men and women of Telangana. It was a successful effort and we look forward to conducting two more such tournaments in December. After two more state-ranking tournaments, the top players will be selected for state-championship tournament to be held in December. The finals will happen in Feb 2020. Bowling is a game of high precision and of great entertainment,” said Rahul Reddy, the President of Tenpin Bowling Association.

The winners in the Men's category were Lalit Kumar as the winner and Gotte Naresh as the runner.

In women's category, the first prize went to Shruthi and the runners up title was given to Firdouse.

There were some special prizes too. The highest average in six games block in the Men's category went to Siddham (score - 200.6). Highest average in four games block in Women's category went to Gotte Mamatha (score - 153.75). The highest score in Single Game in the Men's category was awarded to Korda Kumar (score - 263) while the highest score in Single Game in Women's category was again won by Gotte Mamatha (score-180).


The ideology of hosting such tournaments is to offer more visibility to this sport, which is often considered merely a game that one plays on the weekends. It is the first bowling association since the formation of the state. These tournaments were conducted in Smaaash Zone located inside Inorbit mall. “We chose the mall because we thought that the younger generation will be better able to associate with the sport,” added Rahul Reddy.

Vijayendra Goud,MD, of the venue Smaaash, said, "Malls are a great place to get the youth attracted to anything. The bowling tournament conducted here will create a lot of interest to the game and promote the sport much in the days to come”.

Anwesh Dasari,MD, Luberman said that the success of this first tournament will help in establishing a bright future for bowling as a sport. "We are glad that the first tournament was pulled off really well. It will pave path for the success of future tournaments."
